Overview

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity supports 4-5 postdoctoral scholars each year across departments, including in the acclaimed UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media.

The program develops scholars from underrepresented groups for possible tenure-track appointments. Scholars selected to the program will be appointed to a two-year postdoctoral term starting July 1, 2023.

Benefits

Fellows in the program receive departmental mentors, office space, a computer, health benefits, a $50,000 annual salary, and $2,000 per year for research expenses, including travel. Meetings and workshops are structured for the purposes of networking, social interaction, and supporting professional development of postdoctoral scholars within the program.

Scholars participate in the intellectual life of UNC Hussman and the university by giving and attending public lectures, mentoring students, and participating in departmental activities. They engage full-time in research and writing, teaching a maximum of one course per fiscal year.

Discuss your interest in research at the Hussman School with Lucinda Austin. Then apply online between Sept. 15 and Nov. 15, 2022, to receive consideration for a postdoctoral appointment starting in summer 2023.
