UNC Hussman awards scholarships to undergraduate majors each spring for the following academic year. Please note that MEJO minors nor graduating seniors are not eligible to apply. Students will be sent the UNC Hussman general scholarship application link to their UNC email on the first day of classes in the spring semester from the Undergraduate Hub via UNC Slate. UNC Hussman students may need to check their junk, spam or clutter folder for an email with instructions to apply for Hussman general scholarships.

The scholarship application process opens on January 7, 2026, and closes on February 13, 2026. All applicants will be notified by April 1 of their selection status.

Scholarships awarded for the upcoming academic year are transferred to the student’s UNC account at the start of the fall and spring semesters.  Please note that this funding may impact financial aid eligibility; if you receive financial aid, it may be replaced with this funding. Depending on the type of aid you receive, this could replace student loan, work-study or need-based gift aid. If you have any questions about how your aid is impacted, please contact the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid (aidinfo@unc.edu).

If you are awarded a UNC Hussman general scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year, please note that scholarships are disbursed in two equal halves at the beginning of each semester. The funds will be applied to your account no later than August 31 (for fall) and January 31 (for spring).
