This was taken at a homestay at the Tam Giang Lagoon. The entire family had lived inside the same home for generations, as Vietnamese culture highly values family. One afternoon, I returned home to find the old grandfather, who fished every morning at 3 a.m., smoking a cigarette under the sprawl of family portraits. The juxtaposition of the differing generations caught my eye in that peaceful moment.
