Medellín, Colombia — "MEJO 584: Documentary Multimedia Storytelling"
March 7-16
Julian W. Scheer Term Professor Pat Davison, Lecturer Tamara Rice and Associate Professor Paul Cuadros will lead a group of 26 students to produce a multimedia website in Medellín, Colombia, about refugees from Venezuela. Students will cover the topic in the forms of documentaries, infographics, reports and photos. In Spring 2018, the class went to Puerto Rico to cover the destructions and implications caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, constructing the multimedia website Aftermath.
London — "MEJO 447: International Media Markets"
March 9-17
Associate Professor Rhonda Gibson will lead the "MEJO 447: International Media Markets" class of 14 students to London over spring break. Gibson and her class will visit companies such as Google, Bloomberg, APCO Worldwide, CNN and The New York Times to learn about a different media landscape overseas and how the U.K. media market differs from the U.S. market.
Tokyo — Workroom FashionMash program
March 9-19
Fourteen students from the Workroom FashionMash program will travel to Tokyo to study how the influences of advertising, culture, design and entrepreneurship bring a new product to life in the fashion and lifestyle industries. Workroom FashionMash Director and Professor of the Practice Dana McMahan will be accompanying the group.
Silicon Valley and San Francisco, California — MJ Career Services student networking trip
March 10-13
Eight Hussman School students will attend a spring break networking trip in San Francisco from March 10-13. Students will meet with professionals and alumni from Google, FleishmanHillard, YouTube, Bleacher Report, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts (EA) and Square. Led by Director of Career Services Jay Eubank and Assistant Director of Career Services Jenn Sipe, students will spend time in Silicon Valley and San Francisco, California.
Raleigh, North Carolina — CBC-UNC Diversity Fellowship Program
March 13-17
In partnership with Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) in Raleigh, the Hussman School will host an intensive hands-on workshop led by WRAL-TV professionals and Hussman School faculty. Each year, the CBC-UNC Diversity Fellowship Program selects 12 top students from universities nationwide to engage in the workshop and prepares them for future career success.
