From national to international: Bloomberg-UNC Business Journalism Diversity Program extends overseas

The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media has announced the 2019 participants of the Bloomberg-UNC-Berkeley Journalism Diversity Program, and will partner with the City, University Department of Journalism in London to extend the program overseas this year.

The Bloomberg-UNC-Berkeley Business Journalism Diversity Program and the Bloomberg-UNC-City Business Journalism Diversity Programme give students the opportunity to join a week-long program that will show how business journalists report on what's most at stake in the economy, global stock and bond markets, government regulations and the job market.

Six of the 22 selected Bloomberg-UNC-Berkeley participants are Hussman School students — Aysha Diallo ’21, Samantha Hopkins ’21, Ruth Samuel ’21, Amena Saad ’21, Maria Elena Vizcaino ’19 and Marin Wolf ’21.

With instruction by senior Bloomberg journalists and executives, participants are led through The Bloomberg Way, the principles of reporting, editing and applied business and economic knowledge that helped transform Bloomberg News into the world's most successful business reporting operation. Participants will learn to demonstrate that the story of the economy, business and markets is best recorded when the focus is on the greatest diversity of participants.
