Advertising students wrap up year with strong finish in national competition

Students from the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication finished sixth in the final round of the 2014 American Advertising Federation's National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) held May 28-30 during the AAF's annual national conference in Boca Raton, Florida.

Summer residency number three

During their summer residency, the third cohort of MATC students immersed themselves in video creation, multimedia storytelling, and design. While learning the fundamentals of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premier and video and lighting hardware was an important part of the summer residency, students found just as much value in strengthening relationships with MATC faculty and fellow students.  Each day the students have lunch with MATC faculty and a review of one of the Year II courses.

UNC finishes top 5 in Hearst Journalism Awards for 11th consecutive year

The UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication finished fourth overall in the Intercollegiate Competition of the Hearst Journalism Awards, often called the Pulitzers of college journalism. The school has placed top 5 overall every year since 2004.

Doctoral alumna wins award for top health communication dissertation

Jessica Gall Myrick, a 2013 doctoral alumna, won the 2014 Doctoral Dissertation Award given by the health communication divisions of the International Communication Association (ICA) and the National Communication Association (NCA). It marks the second time in as many years that a J-school doctoral graduate has won the award.
