Stiles places third in Hearst Editorial competition

Andrew Stiles, a senior in the school, won third place and $1,000 scholarship in the Editorial writing competition in the 49th annual William Randolph Hearst Foundation’s Journalism Awards Program.
Stiles’ editorial, “Small. Ignorant. Cowards.,” was published in The Daily Tar Heel on Nov. 16.

Triangle area black journalists to host panel on Obama coverage

The Triangle Association of Black Journalists (TABJ) will host "The Media's Role in President Obama's Election: A Local Perspective" from 10:00 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The panel discussion will be held at the H.M. Michaux School of Education at N.C. Central University.

"Women, Children, Crisis" presented by the Pulitzer Center

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting presents “Women – Children – Crisis” Monday, March 30, at 4 p.m. in the Carroll Hall auditorium at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media.
The free, public event features three journalists who will share their stories from Nepal, Iraq and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
