Joel Curran, a senior executive in one of the world’s largest public relations agencies and a 1986 UNC journalism grad, was named the University’s first vice chancellor for communications and public affairs.

Every year Tessa McSwain communicates with thousands of prospective students at the University of Colorado Boulder. Finding a personal and efficient way to communicate with so many applicants is a never-ending challenge. As an assistant director for communication and marketing in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions she accepts that challenge with enthusiasm.

Carolina journalism students won 8 of 21 multimedia awards — the most by any school — given in the 68th College Photographer of the Year competition. The school’s Powering a Nation won gold for the fifth consecutive year for “Over Water Under Fire.”
