AP editors to present exhibit

Walter Mears, former AP Washington bureau chief, and Kiichiro Sato, AP photo editor in Ohio, will present an exhibit illustrating the history of the AP on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media.
The free, public lecture begins at 5:30 p.m. in 111 Carroll Hall.

New professorship honors Klan-fighting journalist
The children of a Klan-fighting journalist who won a Pulitzer Prize have established a $1 million professorship in his honor at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media.

Schwartz and Oehring win school's Hearst editorial competition, advance to nationals

School winners advance to national Hearst Editorial/Columns of Opinion competition
Joseph R. Schwartz and Rachael Oehring are the school’s two winners in the Editorial/Columns of Opinion category of the Hearst Journalism Awards Program.
As the school winners, Schwartz and Oehring each receive $50. Their entries will be submitted to the national competition. The top prize in that competition is a $2,000 scholarship.

MTV chooses master’s student for “Choose or Lose” election project
As part of its “Choose or Lose” campaign, MTV named Carla Babb, second-year master’s student in the school, as North Carolina’s representative among 51 citizen journalists from every state and Washington, D.C. who make up “Street Team ‘08” that will cover the 2008 elections from a youth perspective and tailor their reports for mobile devices.
